Matthew Wingert

Director, Outside Plant

Mr. Wingert is an experienced telecommunications leader with a comprehensive background in project management and FTTx design, FTTx construction, and gathering FTTx GIS as-built data. He completed a telecommunications course at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (Rice Lake, WI) in 2001. He also completed the CompTIA certification for Professional Network+ from Southwest WI Technical College in 2003. During his 20-year telecommunications experience, he had ISP & OSP technical roles, OSP engineering positions, and OSP management of engineering and construction teams. He has designed and managed several FTTx projects with different topologies and design methods consisting of active ethernet, GPON, and RFoG resulting in millions of capital investments each year.

From 1999 to 2016, Mr. Wingert held several technical and management positions at TDS Telecom headquartered in Madison WI. TDS Telecom delivers high-speed internet, TV entertainment, and phone services to nearly 900 rural, suburban, and metropolitan communities across the U.S. With more than 1.2 million connections.

Mr. Wingert started at TDS in Installation and repair consisting of aerial and buried plant. Over the years he was promoted several times holding positions as FST Network Specialist, Outside Plant Engineering Network Specialist I & II, Outside Plant Manager Construction and Senior Network Specialist (Outside Plant Engineering). His duties while at TDS Telecom network services involve OSP responsibility for FTTH green field, brown field, wreck out, HFC, CAF, routine, and 10G Network projects. He played a crucial role after TDS’s acquisition of Baja Broadband and Bend Broadband. He respectively assessed current employees, company processes, and reviewed current OSP projects Baja Broadband and Bend Broadband had nationwide. This allowed him to utilize the most productive methods managing and teaching new team members TDS processes and procedures while creating a true cohesive unit focused on team and company goals.

One of his biggest accomplishments was being involved with the TDS Telecom federal stimulus project. This project brought new services to 39 communities across the United States with a budget of $114.5 million.

Mr. Wingert joined FARR Technologies in 2017 as Director of OSP. At FARR Technologies he is responsible for managing all facets of a FTTx build, working closely with Clients and Vendors to deliver the project on time and under budget. He manages and supports FARR Technologies OSP team staff and resources to ensure the client receives the best product and service possible. He amongst other leaders at FARR Technologies are constantly reviewing and learning new FTTH technologies, products, and methods in order to stay on top of the FTTx industry.
